GE 'FirstBuild DrinkSink' Design Contest - UNITY
Work done for an international design contest hosted by a subdivision of General Electric Appliances. The brief: To create the World's most advanced beverage-dispensing kitchen tap.
Concept Generation
Initial ideas tackling the brief were quickly sketched out to explore different concepts quickly. The UX design was finalised at this stage.
Developed Design
A quick detailed sketch was drawn detailing the final design and its main features. An idea for the branding of the product - 'UNITY' was also introduced.
Final Design
Sketches of the design were quickly rendered in Photoshop to give more convincing representations of the final design. The 'UNITY' branding and User Interface were also finalised at this stage.
Final Presentation
A detailed CAD model was produced to allow the judges to view the finer aspects of the design. The above and following 3 presentation boards were submitted for judging.
User Interaction is Key
The main focus of this design solution was ensuring the product would be great to use. The above presentation board details the usability of the design.
Simple Materials
The above presentation board explains the aesthetics of the design, as well as an exploded view of the control unit to show the simple construction.
Feasibility
The main components of the system all sit underneath the kitchen sink, which makes use of otherwise wasted space, while saving precious counter top space.
